Suntech and SunBorne Contract Framework Accord to Manage Solar Projects in India

SunBorne Energy, a utility level solar solutions provider and Suntech Power, a manufacturer of solar panels, have contracted a framework accord for the supply of solar panels to meet the requirements of solar projects in India. Suntech will supply 100 MW solar panels needed for the project over a period of two years.

SunBorne will erect the 280Wp polycrystalline silicon modules supplied by Suntech in the proposed installations. The accord also includes an early order of 10 MW solar panels needed for the solar projects in Gujarat, India.

The solar industry is growing in a rapid pace in India. It receives the state as well as federal support to achieve the 20 GW grid connected and 2 GW off-grid PV installations by 2022 to meet the country’s energy demands. According to IEA provided 2010 World Energy Outlook, the country is expected to achieve an annual solar growth rate of 3.1% from 2008 to 2035. The country receives a maximum of 2,000 sun hours every year in some of the locations.
