OPEL Solar to Provide Solar Facility for Waste Water Treatment Facility in the Town of Newtown

OPEL Solar International, a manufacturer and provider of rooftop as well as ground-located solar tracker systems and high concentration photovoltaic (HCPV) solar panels, has declared that they will supply 95 kW turnkey solar PV facility for a waste water treatment facility located in the town of Newtown. The company was selected for the installation through a competitive bidding process.

The Newtown solar installation will incorporate TF-800 single-axis trackers manufactured by OPEL Solar and U.S. manufactured solar PV panels supplied by Grape Solar. The use of single axis solar trackers will allow the installed solar panels to access more solar power and generate more energy when compared to the fixed-type of solar panels. The OPEL Solar supplied solar tracker systems will improve the power production capability of the project by around 28%. The exclusive design of the solar tracker allows its usage with all types of solar panel technology while allowing the solar integrators and engineering companies greater flexibility in preparing the installation layout.

The use of solar tracking technology provided by OPEL Solar in the installation has enabled Newtown to receive $325,000 covering a part of its installation costs from a competitive bid grant presented by the funding from the Connecticut Clean Energy Fund (CCEF) of the state. The award indicates the contributing benefits brought by this solar installation to the clean energy growth in the state and stands as an example to show the benefits of solar energy usage to other municipalities.
