Chromasun, a developer and provider of industrial rooftop solar systems, declared that its Chromasun MCT panel has been rated by Solar Ratings & Certification Corporation (SRCC) as the highest temperature solar collector.
The certification will entitle the MCT panel to qualify for a variety of solar thermal rebates, which include a maximum refund of $12.82 per therm under the California Solar Initiative.
The test program for the Chromasun MCT panel included a range of performance and ecological tests under controlled as well as normal outdoor conditions. The tests were performed by Pacific Energy Testing in Menlo Park using “SRCC Standard 600 - Test Methods and Minimum Standards for Concentrating Collectors". The panel was tested at 179°C heat at the SRCC testing facilities. On successful completion of the tests, the MCT panel received certification under OG-100, considered as the main rating for solar collectors used in the USA. In the course of the testing, the product also achieved the EN 12975-2 European Standard for Solar Concentrators.
Chromasun MCT module is a lightweight, flat-plate solar thermal collector meant for rooftop installations to meet the needs for hot water requirement, space heating, and cooling. The module concentrates the received sunlight around 20 times to achieve 400°F heat, which can be used to boil water and transmit the produced energy into the building even after the sunset. The optical system of the module is enclosed and kept within a closed canopy to protect it from unfavorable weather conditions. The MCT does not contain any exterior moving parts and its inbuilt racking system assists in simple rooftop installation.
