The new worldwide energy standard ISO 50001 formulated to enhance the efficiency in the energy intake and to better the working of energy management systems has been published in June 2011.
Bureau Veritas, a company known for its quality assurance products, has been actively engaged in the formulation of ISO 50001 standards assisting the ISO PC242 of US Technical Advisory Group (TAG), the group that formulated the energy management standard.
The standard enables the organizations to effectively combat global warming and to react positively to worldwide economic restrictions. The certification process enables the organizations to showcase their obligations to sustainable energy development. The ISO 50001 enables an all inclusive advancement in achieving smart energy usage, thus enabling companies to cut down their energy intake and to avail the benefits of renewable energy development.
The ISO 50001 established on the management system mold, offers a documented agenda for incorporating energy performance of a company into its management applications, and it can be introduced separately or structured with other management schemes such as ISO 9001. The introduction of ISO 50001 brings in gains to the company such as easy recognition of chances that allow savings owing to an introduced goal oriented monitoring process, and to improve the green image of the business by substantially lending to clean energy development.
To assist availability of resources to sustain the ISO 50001 standard, the office of Bureau Veritas in North America has been regularly conducting training courses on the standards.
