Hydro Green Energy (HGE), a renewable energy firm that uses patented hydropower technologies, declared that it has shifted its corporate headquarters to Westmont, Illinois from Houston, Texas It also declared that it has commenced procedures to receive federal approval to erect and manage seven hydropower facilities on the Mississippi River.
The seven hydropower projects are located on the Mississippi River at Locks and Dams of United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE). The projects, situated within the territory of Midwest Independent System Operator service, will initially generate 56 MW of clean power. HGE must wait for Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s license before commencing the installation work on the project. The power generated from the projects will be sufficient to meet the yearly power requirement of around 35,000 homes.
HGE currently holds initial permits to develop around 350 MW of hydropower generation, which is adequate to meet the annual power needs of around 210,000 homes. Its applications for an additional 125 MW of power production capacity are under process.
HGE’s President and CEO, Michael P. Maley said that the Chicago location will allow the company to meet its clients and travel for its projects easily. Also, Illinois is home to important policy makers and will allow the company to emphasize the value of hydropower.
