Kyocera as a part of its policy to encourage clean energy generation and to contribute its share to bring down environmental burden of the company, has augmented the solar power production capability from 194 kW to 230 kW at its Tanagura production facility in Fukushima Prefecture, Japan.
The installation considered to be the largest in the Kyocera Group facility in Japan has commenced power production. The company has been installing solar power production systems at its facilities in Japan as well as in other parts of the world.
Consequent to the March 11 earthquake, the government of Japan has ordered for limitations on electric power use of higher volume users in the service areas managed by the power utility companies such as Tokyo Electric Power and Tohoku Electric Power by 15%. The solar installation completed at the Tanagura production facility will supply nearly 8.2% energy of the plant and cut down its grid supplied power intake. The company is planning to achieve 15% savings on the grid connected power by deploying a range of measures such as installing lower power mode in office computers, switching off unwanted lighting, Set the use of air-conditioners at 28°C and by utilizing power generators.
With the completion of the solar installation at its Tanagura production facility, Kyocera has completed solar installations in 26 locations of its global network aggregating a total clean energy power production of more than 2.2 MW. The company while promoting clean energy products will also attempt to cut down its energy intake by promoting the use of renewable energy.
