Mitsubishi Motors North America (MMNA) and Mitsubishi Electric & Electronics USA (Mitsubishi Electric) have introduced a new solar powered charging station for the purpose of charging electric vehicles at the headquarters of MMNA in Cypress, California.
The first of its type EV charging facility in Cypress installed by MMNA while depicting the commitment of the company to remain prepared to receive the electric vehicles also motivates other dealers in every state to get prepared and remain EV-ready before the launch of ‘Mitsubishi i in every state around November this year.
The EV charging station gets the required power from the 96 175 W solar PV modules supplied by Mitsubishi Electric. The modules produced with 100% lead-free soldering have higher level of solar power conversion ratio to meet the requirement of the charging station conveniently. The charging station incorporates CHAdeMO quick charger produced by Eaton is certified for sale and public use in the US. The installation of the charger was completed by Rogers Electric and California Green Designs provided the designs for the twin-arch structured charging station.
The charging station is equipped to charge four vehicles simultaneously. It features three types of chargers with varying voltage levels such as a CHAdeMO Quick Charger to charge nearly 80% of the battery charge within 25 minutes, a 220 V facility to charge a vehicle in six hours and finally 110 V chargers to deliver 100% charge in 22 hours for Mitsubishi i. The charging station is equipped to charge vehicles such as Mitsubishi i. that are compatible with CHAdeMO.
