US Lighting Tech (USLT), a producer of induction lighting systems, declared that it has been chosen by the City of Tempe, Arizona, to supply efficient street lights for the energy-efficient street lighting program of the municipality.
The program of the municipality to substitute its older street lighting units with new efficient lighting units will enable it to save nearly 40% of its energy spending and do away with its expenditure on road light maintenance for the next 10 years.
USLT will supply the municipality 1,000 units of its Cobra 100 Series Induction Streetlight and the installation of the lights is anticipated to commence this month. The 70 W Cobra 100 Series induction streetlights supplied by USLT will replace the present obsolete type of 125 W high pressure sodium (HPS) and metal halide systems and provide increased level of light output. Both the metal halide systems and high pressure sodium lights consume more power than the Cobra 100 Series lights and are costlier to maintain.
The induction lights supplied by USLT are designed to save around 60% of energy and 80% of maintenance costs when compared to older type of lights. The longer life cycle of induction lights makes them cost effective when compared to LED lights.
