Constellation Energy, a supplier of energy and gas products for businesses and homes all over the USA and Denver International Airport (DIA), a busy airport in the USA, have declared the culmination of a 4.4 MW ground fixed solar power generation facility.
They performed a ribbon cutting observance at DIA in July 2011, which was attended by the representatives of the state and community and business leaders.
Constellation Energy, which constructed the solar installation, will own and maintain it and DIA has entered into a 20 year power purchase accord with the company to buy the power generated from the facility. The installation incorporates around 19,000 solar PV panels produced by Yingli Solar. The installation is anticipated to yield around 7,000 MWh of solar power every year. As per the available data from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency the clean power generation will offset nearly 5,000 t of carbon dioxide discharges every year.
The project was originally formulated by Oak Leaf Energy Partners, a solar development company based at Denver. The 4.4 MW solar installation was completed by Quanta Services Intermountain Electric, a company, which has earlier completed a 2 MW and 1.6 MW solar installation of DIA and manages them. With the completion of this present solar installation, DIA will generate more than 8 MW of clean energy utilizing solar power at the airport.
