Canadian Solar declared that it has contracted a sales accord with Cirus Solar Systems, an India-based company in Hyderabad to supply solar PV modules. Cirus currently provides engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services of solar products.
The terms of the accord will require Canadian Solar to supply 33 MW solar modules at pre-agreed prices in US dollars during the third and fourth quarters of 2011. The supplied solar modules will be utilized for installation in solar PV projects where Cirus will provide EPC services on behalf of two multinational companies in India. Canadian Solar has already commenced the initial shipments of the modules.
Cirus offers turnkey type of solar power project solutions for both utility scale and off-grid type solar power projects globally. The company has the corporate backing of Indu Group, a Hyderabad-based company having expertise in installing conventional power projects. Cirus enjoys a competitive edge by utilizing the exclusive expertise of Indu Group in designing optimized power systems, large vendor base and capability to execute projects.
According to I. Syam Prasad Reddy, Indu Group’s Chairman and Managing Director, the company chose Canadian Solar for its product quality and commitment to client service. He explained that the company will utilize 60-cell CS6P modules supplied by Canadian Solar for ground mounted solar applications in a large 20 MW solar plant and two smaller sized 8 MW and 5 MW upcoming solar plants in Gujarat government patronized solar projects. The projects are anticipated to reach completion by December 2011.
