Lockheed Martin, a worldwide security company, has been acknowledged by the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), in its 2011 CDP Global 500 Report as one among the top level institutions following climate change disclosure practices.
CDP has recognized Lockheed Martin as one among the top 23 companies globally in its Global Disclosure and Performance Leadership indices for 2011.
The company has achieved a score of 90 for its carbon disclosure practices in the current report of CDP from its earlier score of 76 last year and also attained an ‘A’ grading for its carbon performance. As accounted in the current year report of the Corporate Energy, Environment, Safety and Health Report, Lockheed Martin is in the process of achieving its sustainability goals by cutting down its use of water, electricity and wastes sent to landfills by around 25% by the year end of 2012 compared to its 2007 levels.
CDP functions along with the investing companies worldwide to improve the opportunities for investment while cutting down the risks presented by climate change. The company sends questioners to around 6,000 of the top level companies all over the globe to submit a report on their planned environment strategies, level of green house gas discharges and energy usage.
Sondra Barbour, Energy, Environment, Safety & Health’s Chief information officer in charge at Lockheed Martin, expressed happiness on the CDP’s report and said that the investments made by the company has helped it to better the sustainability of its operations and products and brought down its infrastructure spending.
