Brammo, an electric motorcycle manufaturer has declared that the Government of Hong Kong has chosen its Brammo electric motorcycles to substitute the traditional petrol driven motorcycles used in government fleet.
The replacement decision was taken by the government following the successful and broad evaluation of its electric motorcycles by a number of Hong Kong government departments in the process of including more number of electric motor cycles for public sector usage.
The engineers from Hong Kong water supplies department will drive Brammo Enertia Plus motorcycles all through the year to reach various service locations in the districts while police force in Hong Kong will utilize 2012 Enertia Plus LE motorcycles to perform traffic management duties across the districts. The Enertia Plus Law Enforcement (LE) is based on the Brammo’s civilian model bike Enertia Plus and fitted with extra features to meet the requirements of traffic management duties. The company is planning to supply the vehicles through its Hong Kong-based dealer JCAM Advanced Mobility.
The electric motor cycle products of the company have received large level support and attention from the day of their plying in the streets of Hong Kong for more than a year. Gary Locke, Secretary of Commerce, who witnessed the capabilities of Enertia Plus at a display of all U.S. Electric Vehicles held in May 2010 at Disneyland, Hong Kong, as a division of the Clean Energy Mission led by him to the Hong Kong and Chinese mainland.
According to Craig Bramscher, Brammo’s CEO and Founder, the decision of the Hong Kong Government marks an important landmark in the usage of electric vehicles by government agencies.
