Micro Analog Systems Oy, a Helsinki, Finland headquartered company has declared the release of MAS6011 Solar Cell Energy Harvesting System Manager.
MAS6011 comes handy to protect the batteries where large sized solar cells are used to compensate the dim light conditions and avoid the possibilities of batteries getting destroyed due to sudden strong light. It offers safe and secure defense of 3 V battery for an array of light strengths.
MAS6011 constantly supervises a battery-powered system using a small solar cell for the level of supply voltage and charging. The IC used in the system consumes low level of 110 nA current, which enables the system to get charged during low light conditions and continue in power-down modality for a number of years yet directly work using a battery power before recharging. The switching levels of MAS6011 have been formulated for their deployment with 3V Lithium Vanadium (VL-type) rechargeable batteries. The secondary batteries are button-shaped, compact and provide increased level of energy than a number of conventional batteries. The batteries discharge around 2% annually thus making it convenient to use as a power source in arrangements that may require long-time storage devoid of recharging.
The MAS6011 offered in a 6 pin QFN 3x3x0.75mm package and dies on tray comes with features such as protection against deep discharge of battery during shut down conditions, indicator to show power on and secure Power On condition after shut down, protection against overcharging of battery, functioning at low supply voltage of min 2.0 V and very low level typ 110nA power consumption. The possible usages for MAS6011 comprise energy harvesting, watches, electric locks, GPS modules and wireless sensor modules.
