The Government of UK has granted planning permission to RWE npower renewables to build the Nun Wood Wind farm consisting of twelve turbines covering three villages namely Lavendon, Harrold and Bozeat.
The investigation and public enquiry into the wind farm was conducted by a planning inspector from the government during the month of October 2011. This enquiry was open to all businesses and residents in the local area. The wind farm will cater to the electricity needs of around 13,700 to 15,600 homes annually and will have a total lifetime capacity of £540,000.
When the wind farm becomes totally operational it will have the capacity to attract funding of £1,000/MW annually. The local community will be responsible for deciding the allocation of funds for the farm. According to the report furnished by the planning inspector, the extent of damage caused by the wind farm to the general environment is limited and in the long run, the nationwide and local environmental policies will bring more benefits to the environment over the next 25 years. According to the Regional Manager for Eastern England for RWE npower renewable, Matt Pinfield, the company has developed the wind farm in consultation with the local community and will continue to do so in the future. The company will also provide its plans in terms of traffic and construction to the Borough Council of Wellingborough, Milton Keynes Council and the Bedford Borough Council.
