Three of GE energy’s latest electric vehicle (EV) charging stations have been installed in the parking garage of the Indianapolis International airport, which ensures that the vehicle is fully charged for the ride back home.
Starting from today, the travelers using the valet parking facility of the airport are allowed to use the wall-mounted GE WattStation EV charging facility at free of cost. The Parking Solutions and Indianapolis Airport Authority (IAA) of airport can provide service of charging facility for any number of EVs by managing the technology of GE WattStation EV charging system.
John D. Clark III, IAA’s CEO and Executive Director, stated that the GE WattStation EV charging services ensures several options for the EV drivers and also ensures to satisfy the requirements of the airport authority community. Clark said that the authority will deploy practices, which adds importance to its community, business solutions and customers.
GE Energy is currently collaborating with the Purdue University for developing another new charging station service in airport. The Energy Systems Network, with an approval from the Indiana Office of Energy Development, provides funds to the Purdue University to acquire the new charging unit.
The airport’s valet services are made available on the parking garage in third floor and also in pavement of the departures level, which enables easy use to the customers. The GE’s WattStation will be deployed near the airport’s parking space on the third floor. The IAA has declared the development plan of the biggest airport-based solar farms in North America, whose annual power production exceed 15 million kW/h, which fulfills the power requirement of American society. The planned solar farms will produce renewable energy which reduced about 10,700 tons of CO2 emission to the environment every year. The airport of United States is rewarded with LEED certification for Midfield Terminal complex during starting of this month.
