Clean Energy Fuels has considerably increased its fueling station project in 2011 and is speeding up the expansion program to assist the growing demand in natural gas vehicle fuel.
Five LNG truck fueling stations were completed by the company on the Natural Gas Highway of America. The company has also completed 68 fueling station projects in 16 states, during 2011.
Clean Energy’s CEO and President, Andrew J. Litttlefair said the number of fueling station projects completed in the year have raised by 50% over 2010. The projects include stations that serve refuse, transit and transport operations across the country. The location of these stations also assist the requirements of small fleets, regional and local trucking.
According to Littlefair, the company secured $450 million as investment fund to develop more fueling stations during the mid-half of 2011, specifically LNG truck fueling stations along the Natural Gas Highway of the United States. He added that the company is delighted to play a role in the country’s transportation system to transform to natural gas fuel, which saves money and the atmosphere.
Use of natural gas decreases the emissions of greenhouse gas by up to 23% in heavy-duty vehicles and 30% in light-duty vehicles. This fuel is also inexpensive and is a safe energy resource in North America.
