At the McCoy Freightliner Green Transportation Conference, the President of Blue Star Gas, Jeff Stewart, provided insights into the advantages of propane autogas. The conference provided information on alternative fuels such as autogas and associated financing, tax credits and grants for converting vehicles to run on clean fuel.
The McCoy Freightliner Green Transportation Conference was held at the Salem Convention Center in Oregon. Blue Star Gas made three autogas vehicles - a Chevy 3500 utility truck, a Ford Crown Victoria and a Ford Expedition for test driving purposes. Other companies including Freightliner Trucks, Eaton Corporation, and Cascade Sierra Solutions provided insight into green fuel options that are presently available for truck fleets.
Autogas is less expensive than gasoline. Usage of autogas also leads to less maintenance costs for truck fleets as it is a clean burning fuel. Worldwide, over 17 million vehicles run on propane autogas. Installation of autogas fuel stations and infrastructure costs are less expensive when compared to the costs for other types of fuels.
Stewart stated that autogas is an ideal, readily available, clean fuel for light-duty fleets. Autogas will help save money and also decrease harmful emissions without affecting the performance of vehicles. Green transportation conferences enable drivers to experience the performance of autogas vehicles.
Blue Star Gas is a distributor of propane gas in the Oregon, California and Washington markets. It is the fuel partner of Alliance AutoGas, a complete program for converting fleets to autogas.
