Juhl Wind has inked a Development Services contract with the Black Oak Wind Farm, which is situated near Ithaca in New York. This wind project is a 15 to 30 MW facility and is expected to be operational during Q3 of 2013. This project will have Juhl Wind as its development partner.
According to Juhl Wind’s Vice President of Project Development, Corey Juhl, the company is delighted over its development service expansion. Highly Inspired individuals in the Black Oak Wind Farm are looking forward to bring the first utility scale community wind project to Ithaca.
Val-Add Service, which is a project management firm in South Dakota, collaborated with the Black Oak Wind Farm. Brian Minish, Val-Add Service’s President, stated that the company is elated to form a business structure in New York which has successfully worked for a similar South Dakota community-owned project. The company is eager to work with Juhl Wind on its first wind project.
The President of Juhl Wind, John Mitola commented that Juhl is expecting to add projects across North America and in other areas to expand the development portfolio, in view of uncertainty in current transmission in the Midwest region. He added that collaboration with the Val-Add group will provide a good opportunity to this wind project by increasing the economic development and local ownership in Tompkins County.
