Hayward California- based Annabelle Candy mounted a new PV Solar system at their facility.
This new solar installation at Annabelle is capable of compensating over 90% of the electricity expenses faced by the factory at present. For the first year, Annabelle will conserve over $136,000 which is equivalent to over 180,000 candy bars. The system will enable Annabelle Candy to conserve around $6.5M.
The system encompasses 1,424 SunPower PowerGuard roof-tiles. These tiles will protect Annabelle’s roof from extreme environmental conditions and UV exposure. The insulated tiles benefit the candy bar manufacturer by functioning as a shield, protecting from the fluctuating temperatures. The system utilizes a single SatCon inverter efficient to generate 646,855 kWh during the first year of operation and provides sufficient energy to power 92 homes. As there is no need for burning of 52,462 Gal of fuel per year after the installation of this system, the company’s carbon footprint will considerably be reduced.
Annabelle Candy is a family owned company being efficiently operated since 1950. According to the President and CEO of Annabelle, Susan Karl, the company is the community’s first manufacturing firm to install solar energy in the building facility. The company is currently excited about the reduced operating costs, increased energy-efficiency and conservation of resources facilitated through the installation. Annabelle anticipates meeting all of its financial challenges in the economic environment, without compromising with its expertise operation.
