Headquartered in Miami, Florida, Car Charging Group has entered into a contract to offer electric vehicle (EV) charging services to Forest City Enterprises’ properties in the U.S. Forest City Enterprises is a real estate company, which owns over 200 office, retail and apartment properties globally.
The collaboration with Car Charging Group will enable Forest City to deliver a value-added service to its customers, who are environmentally conscious. In addition, it supports Forest City’s green initiatives. Forest City’s VP of retail operations, Tom Gilkeson stated that through this partnership, the company will be able to meet the needs of a large number of drivers, who currently use electric alternatives for driving.
EV charging stations, developed by Coulomb Technologies, will be installed at several properties of Forest City and their ownership will remain with Car Charging Group. The real estate company will share the proceeds produced by the charging services offered at their properties. Recently, Car Charging Group has completed the first deployment of EV charging station at Forest City’s South Bay Galleria property in Redondo Beach, California.
Both companies will initially identify appropriate locations to install EV charging stations at Forest City's properties. Once the location is decided, installation of Level II, 240 V stations will be carried out. The stations at different properties will have access to the world’s largest network of independently-owned charging stations, ChargePoint Network. The network provides driver support services, mapping services and ChargePoint mobile apps to EV drivers.
