Green Power EMC, a nonprofit corporation and one of the leading providers of renewable resources in Georgia, has established a solar plant in Warner Robins, Georgia. The plant expands Green Power EMC’s energy portfolio and will increase its total renewable energy generation to approximately 28 MW.
The facility provides 4.7 million kWh of solar power over its estimated lifetime of 25 years. Hence, the facility is expected to be one of the largest solar PV arrays in Georgia.
Green Power EMC has partnered with First Century Energy, a developer and integrator of solar photovoltaic and solar hot water projects for commercial, industrial and government clients, and Clean Control, a manufacturer of cleaning and odor elimination products, to construct the 150 kW solar facility. The facility is located at Clean Control’s headquarters.
Green Power EMC and First Century also joined forces for the Warner Robins project and related power purchase contract. This pilot program aims at installing solar solutions in EMC service areas across the state.
President of Green Power EMC, Jeff Pratt remarked that the generation of increased solar power can help meet the energy needs of customers with less maintenance and without any fuel cost. A combination of solar, biomass and hydro generation from Green Power EMC will currently deliver over 28,000 kW of renewable energy to nearly 4.4 million EMC-member residents across Georgia.
