Xinjiang Goldwind Science & Technology, one of the leading wind turbine manufacturers in the world, has entered into a joint venture agreement with Mainstream Renewable Power, a global renewable energy company, to construct the first phase of the 70 MW wind farm in Northern Chile. This is the third partnership between Goldwind and Mainstream.
As per the deal, the Ckani wind farm will be supplied with 47 units of 1.5 MW GW87 wind turbines from Chicago-based Goldwind. In December 2011, Mainstream had bought 23 units of GW87 1.5 MW turbines from Goldwind for the 34.5 MW wind project in Chile for Negrete Cuel Wind Farm. The first phase of the Ckani wind project is anticipated to commence construction by the end of 2012, and the operation is scheduled to begin by 2015. The wind farm will be linked to the SING Electrical System.
The CEO of Mainstream, Eddie O’Connor stated that the major aim of the company is to offer high quality and cost-effective renewable energy projects through collaboration with leading Chinese manufacturers such as Goldwind.
Goldwind has been selected for the Ckani project for its enhanced Permanent Magnet Direct Drive technology and its capability to deliver a range of financing solutions. These capabilities contribute to Goldwind’s continued success across North and South America. The company has recently received a 16.5 MW contract in Ecuador.
