Car Charging Group, a provider of electric vehicle (EV) charging services in the U.S., and Kettler, a multifamily housing developer, have entered into a partnership to offer EV charging services at properties managed by Kettler.
Kettler takes care of around 20,000 apartments spread across 82 locations in the eastern seaboard region from New York to the Carolinas. At select Kettler properties, Car Charging Group will install EV charging stations. The revenue generated from the charging services provided at these properties will be shared between the two companies.
At these locations, the Car Charging Group will install its Level II fast EV charging stations. These stations provide 32 A of power at 240 V for rapid charging of the electric vehicle's battery. The widely used standard SAE J1772 connector is available at these stations.
The BMW ActiveE, Chevy Volt and the Nissan Leaf are the currently available EV models. The Ford Focus electric, Honda Fit EV, Tesla Model S and the Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybrid will be launched shortly.
On registration, EV drivers are provided with a small RFID card and a Car Charging account. This card allows the EV driver to charge at other charging stations belonging to the ChargePoint Network. Locations of other charging stations are available on the company’s website. Car Charging Group’s ChargePoint mobile application also provides locations of charging stations.
