Southern Energy Management, a company that deals with sustainable energy, is constructing a solar farm for O2 Energies, a company specializing in solar photovoltaic systems. The 1.5 MW solar project is being constructed at a family-owned North Carolina soybean farm. The energy produced through this farm will be used by the Sandy Cross Vineyard community.
The Sandy Cross Solar Farm is owned, developed and operated by O2 Energies.
The power produced from the project will be purchased by Progress Energy through a power purchasing contract. The electricity produced is sufficient to power over 150 houses.
The 6000 solar modules that are REC certified have been used in the project. The silicon in these modules is produced in the US. In addition, the racking systems that support the solar panels are produced by Daetwyler, a manufacturer based in North Carolina.
According to Olee Joel Olsen Jr, the Managing Director of O2 Energies, the project will create jobs in Nash County, provide educational prospects to students and other employees, and will raise the local tax base as well.
The Business Recruitment VP of Rocky Mount Area Chamber, Alan Matthews stated that the project will be an asset for the Sandy Cross community and added that they are looking forward to work with O2 Energies on this project.
O2 Energies focuses on development and operation of turnkey ground-mounted solar systems. The head office of the company is located near Charlotte, NC.
Southern Energy Management provides green building, energy efficiency and turn-key solar services to builders, house owners, companies, military and government. The North Carolina-based company was found in 2001 at Raleigh.
