Citizen Power, a non- profit organization, has announced the supply of affordable wind power to certain parts of Pennsylvania. The company has teamed up with TriEagle Energy, a developer of wind products, to provide wind power strategies to residences in the Duquesne Light service territory that includes Beaver and Allegheny counties as well.
Currently, similar strategies are being provided to PPL and PECO territories. Moreover, Citizen Power has begun the process of including commercial account holders.
Titus North, the Executive Director of Citizen Power, stated that the organization has understood that wind power technology has grown well and wind power can be supplied at reasonable costs. However, consumers have not received wind energy at reduced cost. Since the organization is renowned for supporting environment and electricity consumers, it has decided to supply wind power at reduced cost. Further, TriEagle Energy accepted to produce 100% renewable energy certified wind products and by using Citizen Power’s marketing services, the products are provided at low cost.
North noticed that people are worried about the environmental issues such as oil spills, climate change, fracking and nuclear crisis. He added that public wanted to contribute positively to the environment, but everyone cannot afford to buy an electric car or install a solar panel. However, other alternatives like wind power can save both environment and cost. Customers can save up to 26% in their electricity bills, depending on their providers.
The line maintenance and billing section will be handled by the local utilities including Duquesne, PPL and PECO.
