The Bozzuto Group, a real estate firm, has purchased Green-e Energy Certified Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) from 3Degrees, which deal with carbon compensation and RECs.
By this purchase, Bozzuto Group’s effort towards renewable energy will be reached and its headquarters will match the 100% power utilized with renewable energy produced from the US wind projects. The RECs confirm that each MW of power used by the company will supply 1 MW wind power to the power grid.
By using EPA Greenhouse Gas Equivalencies Calculator, it has been calculated that the purchase of 1,151 MW hours of REC will facilitate eliminating 794 MT of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) greenhouse gas emissions.
The EPA has calculated that this CO2e emission is equal to CO2 emissions emitted from burning over 1,800 barrels of oil or sequestering carbon from seven acres of forest or electricity used by over 95 average houses.
Renewable energy projects are supported by the income generated from RECs. Furthermore, RECs facilitate these projects to contend financially with fossil fuel power production.
The Bozzuto Group comprises six integrated companies, Property Management, Land Development, Homebuilding, Development, Construction and Acquisitions, which offers real estate services to Northeast and Mid-Atlantic. The company has constructed over 35,000 houses. The head office of the company is based in Washington, D.C.
