Suntech Power, a solar panel producer, is set to launch a new compact 60-cell module at the Intersolar Munich exhibition. The module will feature a novel compact frame design.
Suntech's new W-Series 260W modules consist of 60 monocrystalline cells of 6” size. These have a module-level conversion efficiency of 16%. These modules will use the novel sleek and compact frame design. The modules measure 1640 x 992 x 35 mm. The existing module weighed 19.1 kg which has been reduced to 18.2 kg and the frame has been narrowed to 35 mm from 50 mm.
The compaction enables easier handling and installation. It facilitates better packaging that reduces shipment and storage costs significantly. Further, the slim-frame utilizes less aluminum that contributes to lesser carbon footprint and shorter energy-payback period.
The Suntech W-Series modules consist of an anti-reflective hydrophobic layer that enables better absorption of light through reduced surface dust. It helps the module perform better under weak-light conditions. The modules feature 0/+5% positive power tolerance. They have IP67-rated junction box that allows installations in different types of operating conditions and orientations. Further, Suntech provides connectors with low resistance and high performance that enable high yields and maximum output. The W-Series modules can withstand snow loads of 5.400 Pa and wind loads of 3.800 Pa.
