Oce, a provider of digital document management and printing for professionals, has reported that in 2011, its Oce Eco Start Program has provided the funding for planting of more than 350,000 trees.
The program plants trees in collaboration with Trees for the Future for its customers in the United States. Energy usage causes CO2 emissions, and planting of trees will help offset these emissions. Conventional production printing equipment has an environmental impact. The Oce Eco Start Program helps companies in reducing this impact and improving their responsible business practices. It has a holistic approach that includes many responsibilities for promoting a healthier environment, including sustainable tools, practices and products.
Oce has a specific asset recovery facility and takes part in global sustainable practices. It maintains sustainable manufacturing and engineering practices.
Oce has helped Dakota Press to get certified as a green business. Oce partnered with Business Ink and helped the company in its initiatives to makes its products environmentally friendly. Standard Register took part in the Oce Eco Start program and achieved considerable energy savings through reduction in emission. It replaced its older printing technology with novel technology, which helped the company realize a reduction in energy usage of up to 37%.
