NineSigma, an innovation partner to global organizations, declared its willingness to help Alberta-based Climate Change and Emissions Management (CCEMC) through funding for the development of innovative solutions to minimize greenhouse gases emitted in Canada and Alberta.
The major objective of CCEMC is to spread knowledge about climatic changes, create innovative clean technologies for reducing carbon emissions and to implement these technologies practically. CCEMC is likely to invest $40 million by the end of the year to realize breakthroughs that will enhance the utilization of renewable energy forms such as geothermal, wind, hydro, biomass, solar and others. CCEMC has introduced a new Request for Proposal (RFP) - Call for Expressions of Interest (EOI) for enabling the innovators to create an immediate impact. This EOI is likely to be globally published by NineSigma to invite responses from research organizations, enterprises, technology developers, utilities and other relevant expertise.
The CEO of NineSigma, Andy Zynga stated that CCEMC believes that conventional boundaries can be eliminated through the development of breakthrough-innovations in clean technology and by providing new industrial solutions. He assured that the company will provide its assistance to CCEMC to connect with clean technology innovators world-wide thus enabling Alberta to be established as a clean technology leader.
Eric Newell, Chair of CCEMC said that the organization is ready to invite innovative ideas from external networks. He further said that NineSigma has given the opportunity to extend their operations outside by offering clear understanding of clean technology at the global level.
CCEMC may fund a significant amount upto $10 million for a winning solution provider, who will demonstrate its capacity to develop verifiable, significant and sustainable emission reduction solutions by using renewable energy. Research work may be done anywhere in the world, however it is important that the solution can be implemented in Alberta. The deadline for submitting responses to the EOI to CCEMC is September 27, 2012. CCEMC will carry out information sessions on June 18 followed by Webinar on June 25 to explain the CCEMC’s submission and evaluation processes to applicants.
