Johnson Controls, a global diversified technology company that provides solutions for increasing efficiency in buildings, has added a Green Button link to its Panoptix solution.
The Green Button initiative has been inspired by President Obama. It is a country-wide effort that allows energy consumers to download their usage of energy from their energy utility provider’s website. It will provide timely, precise information that will allow users to take appropriate action. The smart grid has two-way communication capabilities that allow this facility.
Johnson Controls' Panoptix solution is a cloud-based platform that is designed to help monitor energy performance of a building by collecting and managing data from different types of systems in the commercial building. It assists in addressing issues related to the infrastructure.
The vice president for global energy and sustainability, Building Efficiency, at Johnson Controls, Clay Nesler, states that the addition of the Green Button link will help users of the Panoptix platform with access to energy data and their analysis, which will aid consumers in reducing their energy cost and increase building efficiency. Buildings use 40% of the global energy produced, so the Green Button Initiative and other similar efforts will help in reduce costs, protect the environment and also save energy.
Savings in energy cost are a major inducement for companies and building owners to invest in energy-efficiency measures, according to the fifth annual global Energy Efficiency Indicator Survey.
