Algae.Tec’s Algae-to-Biofuels Showcase Facility in Australia to be Opened in August 2012

Algae.Tec, a cutting-edge algae-to-biofuels company having a scalable, enclosed, and high-yield growth and harvesting system, has reported that the official opening of Shoalhaven One, the algae to biofuels showcase facility will be held on August 2, 2012.

According to Algae.Tec, the facility situated south of Sydney in New South Wales, Australia, will be officially opened by the New South Wales Minister for Resources and Energy, the Honourable Chris Hartcher, MP.

The commissioning of the showcase facility is currently in progress and the official opening ceremony will represent the start of algae oil production for biofuels. Most recently, Algae.Tec has appointed Colin McGregor, an aviation fuels specialist engineer based in Sydney, as General Manager Project Operations.

Roger Stroud, Executive Chairman at Algae.Tec, informed that the company is excited to have the presence of the Minister for Resources and Energy from Australia’s most populous state during the official opening of the showcase facility.

Algae.Tec has ongoing biofuel projects with Lufthansa, a Chinese joint venture, Holcim Lanka, a production base in Atlanta, Georgia, the United States, and a showcase facility in Australia. Moreover, the company is in discussion with related companies in the USA and Brazil. The company’s high-yield algae growth and harvesting system is called as the McConchie-Stroud System. Its enclosed modular engineered technology is devised to develop non-GMO algae at the industrial scale for the production of biofuels as a substitute for imported fossil fuels.

Algae.Tec’s technology has showcased superior performance in terms of manufacturing unit footprint requirements, carbon dioxide sequestration, product yield and productivity when compared to agricultural crops and other algae processes available in the industry. The company’s algae growth system is a substitute for carbon capture and storage.
