Schletter, a provider of solar mounting products, has introduced a new, all-steel ground mounting system for photovoltaic (PV) applications. The FS ECO system is based on the company’s FS System that has been widely used in large PV installations worldwide.
Schletter has been providing PV mounting systems made from high quality aluminum. All the components in the company’s FS Systems are made from steel, which is a new product line from the company. The new FS ECO system is designed for east-west oriented applications as well as conventional south-facing installations.
Aluminum material is generally selected when a long lifespan is desired, however it is expensive. Steel is a cost-effective alternative and has the desired properties. Schletter’s FS ECO system has been made in a specific manner, so as to minimize the costs incurred during installation. The product is a result of the development efforts for FS products by the company.
The FS System allows flexible module configurations and this feature is also available in the FS ECO system. Schletter is providing the foundations – posts which are required for installation of driven or rammed types. The post undergoes a cold-rolling process, following which it is hot dipped galvanized to increase its life.
The installation of the FS ECO system does not require special tools or large cranes. Further, as the product is highly prefabricated it avoids the costs involved in on-site fabrication.
Schletter will be displaying the new FS ECO all-steel PV ground mount system at the Intersolar 2012 tradeshow to be held July 10 – 12 in San Francisco, USA.
