TopTen USA, a major independent source of consumer data on energy efficient products, has revealed the latest ranking list of the most-efficient computer monitors, which include popular brands such as Dell, Philips, AOC, ViewSonic, Samsung and Acer, to name a few.
Some of the models appeared in the list consume only one-fourth the electricity of competitive monitors. Listings of monitors that qualify for the Energy Star program of the government for the month of June included 1,438 models with a diagonal of below 20" and 1,882 models with a diagonal of over 20". All these 3,300 models have fulfilled the Energy Star specification for efficiency, but differ vastly in power consumption.
For instance, power consumption of 21.5" models in ‘on’ mode varies from 9.7 to 39.25 W, which means that certain models qualified for the Energy Star label consume four folds higher electricity than other models of the same size. TopTenUSA's latest rankings identify the top 10 models for each size range. The 10 best models listed in two size categories will help users lower their energy bills.
TopTen USA’s President, Norman L. Dean informed that the nonprofit helps consumers identify and purchase the most-efficient products available in the market. The TopTen USA website features local and online buying options, consumer and expert product reviews and efficiency program rebate forms. With the availability of energy-efficient models, it makes no sense for users to waste money on products that consume electricity needlessly.
