SPX Service Solutions declared that it intends to test Plugless Power wireless charging technology on its proprietary Chevrolet Volt electric vehicle during Plug-in 2012 in San Antonio, Texas. Subsequently, Service Solutions has turned to be one among the first of 10 companies to report its participation in the Apollo Launch Program’s second phase.
Initiated by Evatran, Apollo Launch Program focuses on supporting electric vehicle adoption by drawing inspiration from a group of industrial professionals who carry out test trial of wireless electric vehicle charging. Service Solutions associates with industrialists from the first phase of the Apollo Launch Program such as Duke Energy, Hertz, and Google.
Two systems will be installed at Service Solutions’ site in Warren, Michigan during the Q4 of 2012. The systems will be deployed daily. Evatran will obtain feedback from program drivers on driver interfaces, charging routines, and overall convenience and accessibility. Additional members of the Program’s second phase will be declared in the next few months.
During February 2012, the first phase of the Apollo Launch Program began with six industrial pioneers like Clemson University, Duke Energy, Hertz, and Google. Following installations of prototypes systems at their locations last month, the participants will trial the systems during summer. Driver feedback will collectively form a case study that can be utilized by the public to have a better knowledge on wireless electric vehicle charging. The second phase of the Program will target Evatran's production aftermarket systems’ trial for Chevrolet Volt as well as Nissan LEAF.
