Global Blade Technology (GBT) has announced that it has collaborated with Flessak Energia Eolica Ltd (FEEL) of Francisco Beltrão, Brazil and has started a new company named - GBT do Brasil Equipamentos Eolicos (GBTB). A new plant is to be built in Brazil near Toledo.
GBTB will cater to the Brazilian wind energy market and produce blades and molds. The new plant will have two blade production lines. FEEL is to commence delivery of new 900 kW direct drive turbines from 2013. One line in the new plant will specifically produce blades for these direct drive turbines.
The CEO of FEEL, Pedro Furlan, stated that it is a basic requirement that one enter the wind energy business with a company like GBT.
The Managing Director of GBTB, Arthur Schuler da Igreja, announced that the commencement of GBT do Brasil Equipamentos Eolicos was a great initiative towards the growth of wind energy power generation in Brazil’s southern region. GBT’s global network and technology along with the requirement for the new turbines from FEEL will lead to the delivery of blades with advanced technology. He added that the plant will also have the capacity to address the requirements of other companies requiring blades. The plant is to commence production of blades from the second quarter of 2013.
Based in Wieringerwerf, The Netherlands, GBT focuses on design, tooling, and manufacturing technology for wind rotor blades. It develops advanced blade manufacturing systems and also performs mold production and materials research.
