The Savannah International Clean Energy Conference (SICEC), which is considered to be the Olympics of Clean Technology, is scheduled to take place between November 11 and 13 of this year. The event will focus on Georgia’s strengths in the field of clean energy.
The event participants include important dignitaries from Georgia such as Johnny Isakson, US Senator; Nathan Deal, Governor of Georgia and Edna Branch Jackson, Mayor of Savannah. The SICEC features over 50 speakers amongst whom, Greg Wolf from Duke Energy Renewables and John W. Somerhalder II of AGL Resources will engage in a discussion on effective collaborative methods for clean energy companies with power utilities.
The SICEC will also host a debate between Kenneth Green from the American Enterprise Institute and VADM Dennis V. McGinn, Retired Vice Admiral and President of ACORE on the topic of utility of incentives and subsidies for clean technology. Debates will be organized for a host of other topics such as sustainable urban development, challenges posing clean technology and partnerships. The second day of the conference on November 12 features the 2012 Later Stage Award Gala presented by the Global Cleantech Cluster Association. There are 30 companies engaged in clean technology that are competing as semi-finalists for the awards and are judged in 10 categories by venture capitalists who have put up funding valued at $3.5 billion in clean technology. According to event co-organizer and Managing Partner of Pendleton Consulting Group, Craig Lesser, the SICEC enables significant collaborations between Georgia and the rest of the world for development of clean technology and highlights Savannah as a great destination for clean technology ventures.
