Jurupa Unified School District and Chevron Energy Solutions declared that the 2.7 MW solar and energy efficiency program has successfully come to an end. This initiative focuses on conserving $34 M for the District by enabling 27 school sites to bring down their energy costs.
The project supplemented solar photovoltaic panels being installed to the parking and shade structures at nine campuses. In addition, around 400 air conditioning units were replaced and over 21,000 lighting fixtures were retrofit. This revolutionary program combines comprehensive energy education curriculum content to promote clean energy ideas and technologies among the students.
The program will bring 26% reduction in the electrical utility investment of Jurupa Unified School District, in addition to bringing down its carbon emissions by over 3,463 MT.
The solar system was engineered, manufactured and installed by Chevron Energy Solutions that focuses offering its dedicated operation and maintenance services. The company brought energy efficiency upgrades to campus heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) and lighting systems that will promote energy-efficiency, design, lighting quality, thereby ensuring consistent indoor climate quality.
A dedication ceremony was held on 5th Sep at 4:30 p.m. at Patriot High School in Jurupa, marking the successful completion of this revolutionary program.
As part of its Hyundai Community Outreach Program, Hyundai Heavy Industries, the project’s solar panel manufacturer will grant $54,000 to the District. This contribution will support an ingenious exchange program that fosters international relationships, learning and education among the students across America and Korea.
