Blue Star Gas, a propane distribution company, has entered into a partnership with Wine Country Balloons to raise awareness about propane as a fuel. They will be launching a hot air balloon, touted to be the largest in Sonoma County.
Wine Country Balloons is an operator of commercial hot air balloons. It also provides “a nature walk in the sky” service over the counties of Sonoma, Lake and Sonoma, and over the Wine Country and the Russian River.
Propane is a clean, reliable, versatile, cost-effective and environmentally friendly fuel. It is currently being used for cooking purposes, water heating and heating for residences. It is a clean-burning alternative motor fuel that has received EPA certification. Propane is being increasingly adopted by vehicle fleets and also for flying purposes in the U.S.
The large Blue Star Gas hot air balloon will have the capacity to carry around 20 passengers. The President of Blue Star Gas, Jeff Stewart, stated that for the last 50 years propane has been used as the fuel for modern hot air balloons. Wine Country Balloons has been using propane and has been a customer of Blue Star Gas for many years. Stewart added that Blue Star Gas has been supplying the gas for residential and commercial purposes. The company had participated in five annual balloon festivals and now the Wine Country Balloons will fly them to the festivals, he said.
The owner of Wine Country Balloons, Captain Scott van der Horst, expressed his pleasure in collaborating with Blue Star Gas on the massive hot air balloon.
