Sears Holdings has demonstrated its environmental commitment by launching 27 new ROUSH CleanTech Ford E-250 cargo vans that use propane autogas as fuel.
The new cargo vans will be used for repair visits and in-home service in the Sears Home Services (SHS) fleet in Seattle. Stu Reed, President at SHS and Senior Vice President at Sears Holdings, the propane autogas conversion of 27 product repair vans is one of the numerous ongoing initiatives taken by the company to enhance the efficiency of its fleet of 10,000 Home Services vans. If the company gets the expected results from this initiative, then it may convert all 10,000 service vans to ROUSH CleanTech propane autogas.
The ROUSH CleanTech liquid propane fuel system, available across the country on various Ford vans and trucks, provides similar factory Ford performance aspects, serviceability, and warranty coverage through a countrywide Ford dealership network. All ROUSH CleanTech vehicles have been certified by the California Air Resources Board and Environmental Protection Agency.
Propane autogas-fueled vehicles release exhaust with up to 60% less carbon monoxide, 20% less nitrogen oxide, and 25% less greenhouse gases when compared to gasoline-powered vehicles. Historically, the cost of propane autogas per gallon is up to 50% lesser than diesel and 30% to 40% lesser than gasoline. Propane autogas-fueled vehicles have extended engine life and very-low maintenance expenses. Moreover, propane autogas refueling infrastructure is comparatively cheaper than other alternative fuel. Ferrellgas deployed three 1,000-gallon refueling stations at Sears’ two full-line store parking lots and one parts and repair facility without any cost.
