JASO Promotes Conversion Efficiency for Cypress Series Solar Cells in Large-Volume Production

JA Solar Holdings has declared that its high-efficiency monocrystalline and multicrystalline Cypress solar cells in large-volume production has attained 19.1% and 17.4% of average conversion efficiencies, respectively. Monocrystalline and multicrystalline solar cells therefore have corresponding industry average of 18.8% and 17.0%, respectively.

The Company's Cypress series enables its 6-in full square monocrystalline solar modules to produce a power output of 280 W, while allowing its 6-in standard monocrystalline modules and 6-in multicrystalline solar modules to generate power output of 260 and 270W, respectively. All the three Cypress series modules generate a power output between 5 and 10W, each. This exceeds the industry average.

Besides providing excellent photoelectric conversion efficiency, Cypress series cells offer superior solder ability and reduced encapsulation power loss caused by elaborated current rating, high-voltage, positive tolerance for cell power compensation, and low-current electrical performance parameters.

The Company has shipped more than 300 MW of its Cypress cells, in addition to over 100 MW to external customers till now.

According to the CEO of JA Solar, Dr. Peng Fang, in a quest to explore innovative means to service the market need for high-efficiency, high-quality solar products, this enhancement in conversion efficiency is another success with the Cypress series. By providing increased conversion efficiency, while maintaining the low cost of cells, a high power output in Cypress cells can promote the lower cost of modules on a per watt basis. This compelling value proposition has attracted several customers, paving the way for continued technological growth.
