Fuel Tech, Inc. (NASDAQ: FTEK), a world leader in advanced engineering solutions for the optimization of combustion systems and emissions control in utility and industrial applications, today announced it was awarded a $7.6 million contract to supply equipment and engineering services for an ASCR™ Advanced SCR project in Taiwan, Republic of China.
This order, placed by an existing customer for two industrial boilers burning coal and other gases, incorporates Fuel Tech’s combined Low NOx Burner (LNB), Over-Fire Air (OFA), NOxOUT® Selective Non-Catalytic Reduction (SNCR) and Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technologies. Equipment deliveries are currently scheduled for the first and third quarters of 2013.
Fuel Tech's ASCR system is a layered technology approach that can offer advantages over full-scale stand-alone SCR systems, including lower capital costs, enhanced fuel flexibility and reduced equipment footprint requirements. Furthermore, this technology approach synergistically integrates three mainstream nitrogen oxide (NOx) control technologies: combustion modifications, SNCR, and SCR into one cost-effective, high-performance NOx reduction solution.
Douglas G. Bailey, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer, commented, “We continue to see increased discussions with operators of power plants and industrial units as a result of more stringent NOx control regulations in the Pacific Rim market. This order, from a repeat customer, represents our third ASCR order in China. These ASCR contract awards display our unique capability to integrate technologies ranging from Low NOx Burners, Over-Fire Air and hybrid SNCR/SCR into one system that offers a competitive and capital-efficient NOx reduction solution to power plant units of all sizes.”
