Assurant Solutions, a global provider of specialty insurance and insurance-related products and part of Assurant, Inc., has earned the Environmental Protection Agency’s ENERGY STAR® certification for its call center in Albany, OR.
Buildings designated as ENERGY STAR meet EPA performance levels and perform in the top 25 percent of similar facilities nationwide for energy efficiency. Such facilities also use less energy, are less expensive to operate, and cause fewer greenhouse gas emissions than other organizations.
“We are committed to improving our environmental performance, and receiving the EPA ENERGY STAR certification is recognition of our actions,” said Craig Lemasters, president and CEO of Assurant Solutions. “Reducing our global footprint is a responsibility we take very seriously. It’s both good for the environment and good for business.”
Assurant Solutions maintains a tradition of resource management and conservation initiatives aimed at reducing energy usage. Specifically, its Albany center implemented a carbon disclosure project and reduced energy consumption by an average of 410 kilowatt hours per day by automating its lighting, heating and air conditioning controls.
The Albany center joins three other Assurant facilities that hold the ENERGY STAR designation. The Springfield, Ohio service center of Assurant Specialty Property and headquarters of both Assurant Employee Benefits in Kansas City, Missouri and Assurant Health in Milwaukee hold the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency designation as well.
The EPA launched the ENERGY STAR program in 1992 to encourage businesses and individuals save money, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and protect the environment. Through its certification label, the voluntary partnership also identifies homes and buildings that meet strict energy-efficiency standards set by the EPA.
