Today, lighting accounts for nearly 20 percent of the average home's electric bill and Americans are quickly switching from incandescent light bulbs to compact fluorescent light, which uses up to 75 percent less energy, lasts up to ten times longer, and produces a savings of about $30 per bulb. That's the bright side. On the not so bright side, the popular spiral compact fluorescent light bulb produces a stark glaring light that is unsightly to look at.
The Lunet Lighting Cover offers an attractive cover up for those spiral compact fluorescent bulbs and reduces glare, reflects a more natural light, and adds a decorative touch to overhead lighting. Designed as a clip-on that easily inserts right into the spiral bulb, Lunet comes in four distinct introductory styles of contemporary frosted white, stained glass, antique roman, and art deco designs. In addition to being easy on the eyes, simple to insert, and inexpensive, Lunet will work with most standard spiral compact fluorescent bulbs and comes in two sizes of 3-3/4" and 4-1/2" in diameter. It is made of high impact, heat-resistant plastic, which snaps easily into the wide end of the spiral bulb until secure. And, for added value, because the Lunet Lighting Cover does not enclose the entire compact fluorescent light bulb, it allows the bulb to operate at a lower temperature to optimize bulb performance and life.
"We realized that it was environmentally responsible for consumers to replace incandescent light bulbs with compact fluorescent bulbs, but what made perfect sense in energy savings, didn't always add up to a desirable decorative solution," says Gary Bernhardt, CEO of Firefly Alternative Energy Group, LLC, manufacturer of the Lunet Light Cover. "We created the Lunet Light Cover to give off an attractive, ambient light to the spiral fluorescent bulb when placed in an overhead fixture and to offer it in a variety of designs that appeal to individual decorating tastes and a variety of room decors. The overall goal is to provide the consumer with a positive experience when making the switch to compact fluorescent light bulbs."
