In support of the rapidly growing commitment to environmental initiatives being organized at the local level, ZipGoesGreen is launching its online fundraising program and offering of green, zip code-printed products. This unique initiative provides local organizations nationwide with a way to raise funds to support their local green, civic, team, class and club initiatives with no financial commitment and minimal effort.
Upon partnering with ZipGoesGreen, an organization’s single responsibility is to encourage town residents to shop online at zipgoesgreen.com. Once on the site, residents purchase a range of green-oriented products such as reusable water bottles and reusable grocery bags that are custom-printed with the town’s zip code and the accompanying “goes green” tagline. In return for generating those sales, ZipGoesGreen sends a check for 25% of all sales the partner generates each month. Organizations can also choose a traditional fund-raising model where they take orders in person and then submit a bulk order to ZipGoesGreen for processing.
“Like so many social and political movements, much of the energy and conviction related to environmental issues is being harnessed and organized at the local level.” said Mike Aaron, President of ZipGoesGreen. “ZipGoesGreen was created to support these efforts, build on that energy and help encourage widespread adoption of some simple green practices.”
“ZipGoesGreen products are beneficial to a community in several ways. One, the use of them helps minimize waste locally. Two, the sale of them assists in funding local green and other initiatives. Three, residents using the product serves as an ongoing, street-level ad campaign for the greening of the town.” said Aaron.
ZipGoesGreen’s charter partner, Summit, NJ-based non-profit Summit Green, began selling ZipGoesGreen product at the end of March to help fund their programs. Founder, Anne Marie Treger says “The 07901 product is being talked about around town and people are seeking it out. Summit residents really seem to love the personalized zip code product and the idea of supporting local green efforts.”
