Major Chinese Thin Film Module Manufacturer Places Order for Spire’s Solar Simulator

Spire Corporation, a global solar company providing capital equipment and turnkey manufacturing lines to produce photovoltaic modules and optoelectronics thin film services, today announced receipt of a contract from a major Chinese thin film module manufacturer with facilities in Europe, China and the United States, for the delivery of a custom solar simulator.

The Class A solar simulator, a Spi-Sun Simulator™ 6013i SLP, will have a test area of 6 meters by 1.3 meters, allowing the manufacturer to accurately characterize the performance of their large-area thin film modules. The design will also include an automation system that will allow them to conveniently connect and transfer their long modules into the test area, where a dark I-V and full light I-V curve are measured. The Spi-Sun Simulator 6013i SLP technology and design are based on Spire’s proven solar simulator products, which are widely used globally in test labs and manufacturing facilities.

"Spire Corporation is pleased to have been chosen to provide our advanced solar simulator to meet their testing needs. This major Chinese manufacturer has demonstrated a capability of designing and delivering advanced technology photovoltaic modules, and Spire Corporation’s technically superior solar simulator equipment is a perfect match for their requirements," comments Mr. Rodger W. LaFavre, President and CEO.
