Enphase and My Generation Energy Commission Sippican Community Solar Garden

Enphase Energy, Inc., and My Generation Energy, Inc., a southeastern Massachusetts-based solar installer and developer, announced today the completion and commissioning of the Sippican Community Solar Garden® in Marion, Mass. The 900-kilowatt-DC commercial project is the largest North American installation to date featuring the advanced Enphase® C250 Microinverter System.

My Generation began construction on the site in January 2015. The installation, which features more than 3,200 Enphase C250 microinverters and LG Solar photovoltaic modules integrated onto a Unirac ground-mount array, was completed and interconnected to the grid in April.

With the electricity benefits enjoyed by more than a hundred members of a nonprofit consumer cooperative, the net-metered Sippican Community Solar Garden facility is expected to generate over 1,200 megawatt-hours per year. Suntility Electric LLC, a renewable energy services company, and My Generation operate and maintain the array as well as managing its net metering credit allocations to the cooperative.

“The Enphase commercial system provided significant cost, labor-saving and performance benefits to the Sippican project,” said Luke Hinkle, manager of Suntility Electric and founder of My Generation Energy. “With the higher AC voltage, we could run longer branch circuits, use fewer combiner panels, and save on wiring costs. The design process was simpler, cleaner and less expensive. In addition, the system configuration avoids the need for secondary transformers, which reduces power losses and delivers more energy to the revenue-grade meter.”

“This project represents a unique business model that allows cooperative members to share in the benefits of clean solar power,” said Jeff Loebbaka, senior vice president of global sales, marketing and support at Enphase. “For a large-scale commercial project like Sippican Community Solar Garden, the reduction in the levelized cost of energy provided by the optimized Enphase C250 platform will improve the economics over the project's lifetime."

Specially designed and built for commercial projects, the C250 Microinverter incorporates Enphase's world-class microinverter technology to support three-phase 480VAC installations for 60- and 72-cell PV modules. The commercial system delivers optimal performance and enables installers to use less wiring and fewer balance-of-system components, thus significantly reducing labor and overall construction costs.

The comprehensive, concept-to-completion Enphase commercial solar solution includes the C250 microinverter system, HelioScope design software package, operations & maintenance services, and other features. To learn more, visit http://enphase.com/commercial-solution/complete/.
