DuPont will recognize innovation in sustainable services and sustainable energy for the first time as part of the 2007/08 DuPont Australia and New Zealand Innovation Awards.
The awards recognize innovation and advances in industry, science, the environment and agriculture. In addition to the two new categories, awards are given in the areas of building innovation, medical and healthcare, agriculture and food production, performance materials and “tertiary students”.
According to Hutch Ranck, DuPont Australia managing director, “The inclusion of the two new categories highlights the growing importance of sustainability in Australian and New Zealand industry.”
“Many companies in Australia and New Zealand recognize the importance of sustainability to their business operations, as well as our environment,” Hutch added. “As a result, we are seeing increasing innovation in sustainable product development and a commitment beyond internal footprint reduction.”
Category finalists also compete for the prestigious DuPont Chairman’s Award, which is given to the most innovative product, technology, application or service making the most significant contribution to sustainability. The winners will be announced in May.
