EuPC: Digital Platform to Monitor Uptake of Recycled Polymers Now Available in UK

EuPC has launched Monitoring Recyclates for Europe (MORE) the single, unified online tool to monitor the uptake of recycled polymers into products and is available for the use by converters in the United Kingdom (UK). MORE is designed to monitor and register the industry’s efforts to reach the EU target of 10 million tons of recycled polymers being used annually between 2025 and 2030.

Platform Now Available to British Plastic Companies

MORE is now available to British plastics converting companies, where they can register and submit the volumes of recycled polymers used in their products. The UK is the 13th country in the European Union to offer the platform to the industry. Data that is submitted is confidential and only aggregated numbers are published.

The IT platform was developed by European Plastics Converters (EuPC), the EU-level trade association, in cooperation with its members. Alexandre Dangis (EuPC managing director) and Philip Law (British Plastics Federation director general) officially signed the MORE Partnership Agreement on 11 November in London, UK.

Inching Toward Circular Economy

EuPC Managing Director, Alexandre Dangis said, “We are delighted to present our digital platform to the plastics converting community in the United Kingdom. Our industry can showcase its efforts towards a circular plastics economy in Europe and be transparent on the volumes of recycled polymers they use in converting infrastructures. We are very happy that the United Kingdom will join the effort and work together with us and other national coordinators to achieve the target of 10 million tons recycled polymers used annually between 2025 and 2030.”

A Step to Integrate More Recycled Content in Plastic Products

BPF Director General Philip Law said, “The plastics industry in the UK has been working to integrate more recycled content into its products and we are very happy to be making MORE available within the UK. Participation in the platform is key to its success and we urge companies to help us develop this valuable data so we can understand and communicate the UK’s progress.”

A strong participation from the industry is vital for the good functioning and credibility of MORE as a transparent tool to communicate data to the public and key decision makers. EuPC works closely with its members to guarantee a good promotion and distribution of MORE within the plastics converting industry.
