New Green Fuel Product for the Off-Road Market Catches Eye of Speedy Hire Plc

FuelBox and Green Biofuels have together launched a brand new renewable, fossil-free, low emission fuel product for off-road vehicles which has already been taken up by Speedy Hire Plc, the UK’s leading tools and equipment hire company.

Speedy has chosen the FuelBox Green D+ HVO as its preferred low-emission fuel solution as part of the company’s commitment to customers looking to minimise their fuel emissions and environmental impact. Speedy has more than 200 locations nationwide and offers thousands of pieces of equipment to the construction, infrastructure, industrial, utilities, events and facilities management markets.

Michael Derome, Head of Fuel at Speedy Hire Plc, commented: We selected this green biofuel because it creates significantly lower emissions than regular diesel and can be used in pre-existing engines, so our customers don’t have to upgrade or change their equipment to use it. It offers a route to immediately improving air quality that benefits both our customers and the communities they work in.

“Through Energise, our environmental and social responsibility programme, we’re committed to finding new ways of helping our customers to reduce their carbon footprints and we look forward to seeing the impact that this biofuel has on their businesses.”

The FuelBox Green D+ HVO, sold in 20L units, is the first renewable, fossil-free, low emission fuel to be offered as part of FuelBox Family range.

The revolutionary “Bag-in-Box” product is a refuelling system created to replace the jerrycan. Its “store, pour, recycle” design delivers three things: the box shape makes for easy carrying and stacking; an easy-pour attachable spout ensures no spillage; and both the box and bag within it are recyclable to minimise environmental waste.

First released back in 2015, the FuelBox brand  already has Red Diesel, Kerosene and AdBlue as part of its ‘FuelBox Family’. The FuelBox can already boast a reduction in your carbon footprint by reducing plastic packaging waste in landfills by 86%, and plastic consumption by up to 90% compared to other 20 litre rigid packaging. The inclusion of the Green D+ HVO fuel, delivered by Green Biofuels, makes FuelBox even greener and is a more sustainable fuel solution for off-road operators.

With hundreds of independent plant hire stores across the UK such as City Tool Hire, Taplins Plant, Skipton Hire, Bison Plant Hire and GGH Hire, and major stockists include the likes of Speedy Services, Travis Perkins, Hirebase, Brandon Hirestation, Gap, Aplant and many more, the new FuelBox Green D+ HVO will be available in over 1500 stockists across the UK.

Using Green D+ fuel reduces particulate emissions by up to 86%, Nitrogen Oxides by up to 30% and CO2e levels by up to 90% compared to regular diesel, according to independent tests at the Millbrook specialist vehicle testing facility. Crucially, Green D+ can be used immediately and without any changes to equipment or fuel tanks, meaning companies can take climate change action quickly with no costly upgrades to machinery or equipment.

Green Biofuels recently announced its work with Power Electrics, the UK generator provider, to develop a fleet of 2,500 Stage V generators all using Green D+ for lower emissions.

William Tebbit, CEO of Green Biofuels Limited, commented: “We are excited to be working closely with FuelBox to deliver what we consider to be an innovative solution in the off-road fuel space and the opportunity to work with one of the most well-respected brands in the UK, Speedy Hire Plc is validation of our work with FuelBox. We view the adoption by Speedy Hire Plc of Green D+ fuels delivered in the new FuelBox as a real step forward as a company of such magnitude has the power the push the needle when it comes to driving better local air quality and champion Green D+ as an alternative to dirty diesel.”

James Hunt, Managing Director of FuelBox., said: “We knew the off-road market was ready for something convenient and more eco-friendly, so we created the ‘FuelBox Family’ that are recyclable and can be stored easily. The addition of Green D+ HVO to our ‘FuelBox Family’ means that our customers now have a renewable, low emission fuel option as well – we are excited to give them the opportunity to make the switch.”
