Peab has been commissioned to build a new test track for autonomous and electrified vehicles in Södertälje. The customer is Scania Industrial Maintenance AB and the contract is worth SEK 730 million.
Peab will build roads and surfaces for Scania on an 85 acre large area in Södertälje that will enable the development and create conditions for autonomous and electrified vehicles. The project includes building a three kilometer long circular track with banked curves and a flat frame bridge at the entrance of the area. Peab will also build test tracks of around ten kilometers together with a large braking and manoeuver track.
“It’s an honor to be part of building Scania’s new test track which is a vital development for sustainable transportation solutions. I believe our previous experience from similar projects will be very useful and we look forward to start working onsite,” says Ioannis Strantzalis, Assistant Product Manager at Peab.
The project is a turnkey contract. Construction is planned to start in the autumn of 2023 and is expected to be completed in 2026.
The project will be order registered in the second quarter 2023.
